Benefits-planning tip | Report income to Social Security every month

—by Steve Shober

Here's one of the easiest and most effective ways to support individuals who work a job and also receive SSI or SSDI benefits. Emphasize to them the importance of reporting their income to Social Security each month. Simply reminding individuals that income from employment should be reported each month and offering them assistance, when needed, can help minimize the chance of overpayment of benefits, as well as required paybacks to Social Security.
