OVERVIEW

Join Steve Shober and Nicole Clevenger of our Center at their workshops during the Fourth Annual OEC Conference, titled "Peer Support: Year of the Peer, Embracing Peer Support Services." This event is sponsored by The Ohio Employment Coalition, Inc.

1.) Benefits Advocacy: Providing Basic Supports for Individuals with Benefits who Choose to Work

  • Presenter: Steve Shober, BSW, LSW, consultant and trainer at our Center (get bio)
  • Abstract:  Fear of loss of benefits is often a barrier to many who might otherwise choose to work. This workshop will provide basic information about the role of advocacy regarding the impact of employment on benefits such as SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, and Medicare and tips for supporting individuals who receive benefits and who are considering work, looking for a job, or are currently working.

2.) Working It: Selecting and Sustaining a Great Job

  • Presenter: Nicole Clevenger, BFA, consultant and trainer at our Center (get bio)
  • Abstract:  This interactive workshop will help participants consider key components to job selection, including how to identify a work setting that is a good ‘fit' based upon individual preferences and characteristics. In addition, participants will discuss critical elements to successfully sustaining their job. Content will apply to those seeking employment as well as those already employed.
