A PERFECT 10
Conference 2010 to celebrate ten years of EBPs in Ohio, combine annual SAMI-IDDT & SE events, as well as tobacco recovery

Columbus, OH—Save these dates! The Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University will host its next conference October 12, 13, and 14, 2010. The event, titled "Sustaining Evidence-Based Practices: The Next Ten Years," will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the State of Ohio's success with implementing EBPs for people diagnosed with mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders.
The Conference will highlight national EBP research and lessons-learned by service organizations in Ohio and other states during EBP implementation. There will be several keynote presentations and a variety of practical workshops to help policy makers, leaders of organizations, and direct-service providers address current implementation challenges and help to sustain success in the coming decade. The event will take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Registration is not yet available (see right sidebar).
A CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
We are currently accepting abstracts for workshops from potential presenters. Workshops will focus on topics that enhance the delivery of EBPs and emerging best practices for adults diagnosed with mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders. We invite individuals from the following to submit abstracts for workshop presentations:
- Community-based service organizations
- Hospitals
- Consumer-operated services
- Educational institutions
- Technical-assistance organizations
The deadline to submit your abstract is Monday, February 15, 2010 at 5 pm [ get details ].
A NATIONAL EVENT
Conference planners anticipate the event will attract over 600 people from all over the United States, because Conference 2010 will combine two annual CEBP events: the annual Ohio SAMI  Coordinating Center of Excellence (CCOE)/Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment conference, which took place in September each year and drew over 400 people; and the annual Ohio Supported Employment CCOE Conference, which took place in March and attracted over 200 people. Participants at these events have come from approximately 17 states and overseas, including the following:
- CA, CO, HI, IA, IL, IN, KS, MD, MI, MO, ND, NH, NJ, NM, OH, PA, TX & The Netherlands
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Conference will feature several keynote plenary sessions and numerous practical workshops that will explore introductory, intermediate, and advanced topics for implementation of several EBPs and related strategies that support clinical change, organizational change, and service-systems change, including but not limited to the following:

ACADEMIC-COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
The Center for Evidence-Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University is a partnership between the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case and the Department of Psychiatry at the Case School of Medicine. The Ohio SAMI Coordinating Center of Excellence (CCOE) and Ohio SE CCOE are both initiatives of the Center for EBPs and are a part of the State of Ohio's CCOEs initiative. The Center for EBPs works in collaboration with and is supported by the following:
- Ohio Department of Mental Health
- Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services
- Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission
- Ohio Department of Health
Ohio & 21 Other States
The Center for EBPs and its CCOEs collaborate with and provide technical assistance for service-systems change, organizational change, and clinical change to state and county authorities, community-based service organizations, and state and community hospitals throughout Ohio. In addition, policy makers from state and regional authorities and leaders of service organizations and hospitals from 21 states in the U.S. have sought consulting and training from the Center and its CCOEs.
National Dissemination
The State of Ohio and the Center for EBPs and its CCOEs have participated and continue to participate in national dissemination projects in collaboration with the New Hampshire-Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center at Dartmouth Medical School. These projects have been sponsored by the following:

- Johnson & Johnson-Dartmouth Community Mental Health Program
