Annual SAMI, IDDT conference 2007 draws largest crowd, provides professional peer-networking

Over 400 people from urban, suburban, and rural communities throughout Ohio, around the country, and overseas convened in Columbus on October 2 and 3 for the seventh annual Ohio SAMI CCOE Conference. The event featured two keynote plenary sessions about the future of integrated treatment as well as 36 workshops that addressed a wide variety of topics such as the importance of fidelity reviews, outcomes monitoring, introductory and advanced lessons in core clinical practices of the Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) model, and overviews of other evidence-based practices.

Service organizations help State of Ohio begin to identify, study best methods for implementing integrated treatment

A Research Infrastructure Grant (RIG) awarded to the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) at Case Western Reserve University has enabled the Center to expand its capacity to access and analyze fidelity-review data gathered from service organizations that are implementing Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) and/or Supported Employment (SE). The grant was awarded to the Center by the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case.

Fidelity review and action-plan guide EBP implementation process

The fidelity review (or assessment) provides a formal mechanism for independent evaluation of evidence-based practices (EBPs), such as Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) and Supported Employment (SE). The fidelity review is not an audit or accreditation process. It is strictly a quality-improvement process that provides program managers and implementation teams with information about an organization's progress with EBP implementation.

Dual Disorders Fellows Program partners with service organizations, promotes master's degree and evidence-based practices for co-occurring mental and substance use disorders

The Dual Disorders Fellowship Program gives employed mental health and substance abuse professionals the opportunity to enhance their education, credentials, and experience by earning a Master of Social Science Administration (MSSA) degree while staying in their current jobs and attending classes once per month on weekends. The Program is also structured to provide financial support to students through a unique partnership with employers and mental health and addiction services authorities.

Center for Evidence-Based Practices provides technical assistance, promotes mental health, recovery & employment

People with severe mental illness and their families in communities throughout Ohio, several other states, and two countries are experiencing an improved quality of life, in part, because of the work being done by the staff of the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs). The Center functions as an umbrella entity for two initiatives that disseminate two different yet related EBPs.
