Addressing Tobacco Dependence in Behavioral and Physical Healthcare Settings (Training Video)
This is a video recording of a CEBP training event that took place on May 11, 2010, titled "Addressing Tobacco Dependence in Behavioral and Physical Healthcare Settings: Strategies for the Medical Professional." The event was a free video conference that took place at multiple sites throughout Ohio and was broadcast from the Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy (NEOUCOM).
The event provided physicians, nurses, case managers, other mental-health professionals, and addictions counselors with practical strategies for supporting tobacco cessation and recovery among people with severe mental illness (SMI) and/or substance use disorders. People with SMI are among the heaviest users of tobacco products. The event highlighted core principles and practices of "Tobacco: Recovery Across Continuum" (TRAC), a stage-based motivational model. Use this video in your organization or hospital as a practical
introduction to the importance of tobacco-cessation and recovery
services.

ABOUT THE MODEL
"Tobacco: Recovery Across the Continuum" (TRAC) was developed and is
studied by the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case
Western Reserve University. TRAC is designed to help people diagnosed
with severe mental illness
and/or substance use disorders reduce and eventually eliminate the use
of tobacco products. It integrates tobacco treatment with existing
behavioral healthcare approaches. More information about TRAC is
available on this website.
