This 11-ounce ceramic coffee mug is a great learning tool for Motivational Interviewing (MI), the evidence-based treatment. It was originally produced as a give-away at our EBP Conference 2010. Use the mug with service providers and teams as a reminder of the eight steps for learning and integrating MI into clinical practice. This mug was inspired by an article published by William (Bill) Miller, PhD, co-creator of MI, and Terri Moyers. The article explores these eight steps for making MI a part of your daily work:

The principles and practices of MI are addressed in several training events sponsored by the CEBP. For starters, look for "MI 1" and "MI 2." To access our events calendar, click "events" in the navigation bar at the top of this column. Several consultant-trainers at the CEBP are members of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).
Motivational Interviewing (MI) was developed and is studied by William R. Miller, Ph.D., and Stephen Rollnick, Ph.D. According to Miller and Rollnick, "MI is a collaborative, person-centered form of guiding to elicit and strengthen motivation for change" (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) 2009). Use MI principles and practices with the people you serve to help guide conversations about personal change. More information about MI is available on this website.
