  Please Note:

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a widely researched service-delivery model for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, and co-occurring substance use disorders. Employment is a key component of recovery and frequently identified by ACT clients as a goal. However, individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders are disproportionally represented in unemployment numbers. This workshop will provide ACT Team Members an overview of how the Dartmouth Assertive Community Treatment Scale (DACTS fidelity scale) measures employment services and which specific items address this topic. Participants will also learn activities for helping individuals with employment, including strategies for engaging people in conversations about work.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify two items on the DACTS that evaluate vocational services on an ACT team.
  • Identify four key activities for helping individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders with employment.
  • Discuss strategies for engaging people in conversations about work.

Examples of those who should attend include the following:

  • Program managers
  • Team leaders
  • Team members
  • Quality Improvement (QI) specialists
