Abstract

Mindfulness is an important skill set for assisting individuals with physical health issues, mental health issues, and substance use disorders.   This workshop will review the relevant data for the effectiveness of mindfulness.  We will review all relevant research on the topic and explore materials from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention. 

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Define mindfulness, mindfulness skills, and mindfulness practice
  • Review the effectiveness of mindfulness practice for physical health, mental health, and substance use disorders
  • Participate in a mindfulness practice 

 


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Organizations that are interested in and/or in the process of implementing and utilizing Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), the evidence-based practice. Examples of those who should attend include the following:
