OVERVIEW


This event is by invitation only. It is for organizations in Ohio implementing Supported Employment/ Individual Placement and Support (SE/IPS), the evidence-based practice.
Pre-registration online is required.  

"SE/IPS Program Leader, Part 1" is the first of a two-part series. Part 1 focuses on administrative issues. Topics include the following:

  • Engagement of people in services and marketing strategies for SE/IPS programs
  • 8 core principles of SE/IPS and the relationship between those principles and the SE/IPS fidelity scale
  • Fidelity process
  • Hiring and retaining effective employment specialists 
  • Components of effective supervision for SE teams
  • Outcomes measurement and utilization

This training includes exercises that assist participants in identifying next steps toward initiating implementation or enhancing SE/IPS within their organizations. SE/IPS supervisors are often responsible for a variety of administrative functions that support effective SE/IPS team functioning. Efficient administrative supervision is critical to effective SE/IPS implementation.

 Learning Objectives 

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the components of the IPS-SE model and its application to daily service provision.
  2. Recognize and describe engagement and marketing considerations that are important components of SE/IPS programs.
  3. Create a list of potential administrative next steps t begin implementation or more closely approximate SE/IPS.

Deborah Myers, MEd, LPCC-SC, is a consultant and trainer at the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University and its Ohio Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Coordinating Center of Excellence (Ohio SAMI CCOE) initiative. In this capacity, she provides programmatic consultation as well as clinical consultation and training to service organizations implementing Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT), the evidence-based practice. Ms. Myers is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), an international association of trainers in motivational interviewing.

Michael Rogers is a consultant and trainer at the Center for Evidence-Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University and its Ohio Supported Employment Coordinating Center of Excellence (Ohio SE CCOE) initiative. He provides technical assistance (consultation and training) to service organizations that are implementing Supported Employment/Individual Support Services (SE/IPS), the evidence-based practice for people diagnosed with severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.

Nicole Clevenger, MSSA, is a consultant and trainer at the Center for Evidence-Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University and its Ohio Supported Employment Coordinating Center of Excellence (Ohio SE CCOE) initiative. In this role, she provides technical assistance to service organizations throughout Ohio that are implementing Supported Employment (SE), the evidence-based practice, which helps people with mental illness find a job of their choice in the community. Ms. Clevenger also promotes the Center's consultation and training for Benefits Advocacy & Planning among service organizations and consumer-operated services (COS) that are helping people make more informed decisions about their benefits situations and employment dreams.

Steve Shober, BS, LSW, is a consultant and trainer at the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University and its Ohio Supported Employment Coordinating Center of Excellence (Ohio SE CCOE) initiative. He provides technical assistance (program consultation, clinical consultation, and training) to service systems and organizations that are implementing evidence-based practices, emerging best practices, and other strategies that improve quality of life and other outcomes for people diagnosed with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. The practices and strategies include the following: Supported Employment / Individual Support Services (SE / IPS), the evidence-based practice; and Benefits Planning.
