Abstract

One common reasons individuals identify as a barrier to going to work is the fear of the impact that working will have on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits.  This workshop will provide participants with an overview of the differences between SSI and SSDI and key employment supports that are available to individuals who receive these benefits and go to work. Participants will learn more about these two key cash benefits and how they are (or are not) impacted when individuals go to work.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe the key differences between SSI and SSDI.
  • Identify the key employment supports for individuals who receive SSI
  • Identify the key employment supports for individuals who receive SSDI.
