Topic: "Tobacco Interventions: Psychopharmacology Update Using Real-World Examples"

Join us on September 16, 2014 at 1 pm for another "Tobacco Tuesday Conference Call." People can quit, and YOU can help! This teleconference will identify cutting-edge information regarding the use of medications to treat tobacco use disorders. Real-world examples from mental health and addiction settings will be used during this call. Participants are strongly encouraged to seek consultation about specific client scenarios. There will be time for discussion and questions. Please join us if you can!

Tobacco Tuesday Series

  • The Tobacco Tuesday Conference Call Series is presented by the Center for Evidence-Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University.
  • It is part of the initiative to integrate primary health and behavioral healthcare, supported by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS).
  • These consultation calls are designed to help health and behavioral healthcare organizations in their efforts to engage individuals with severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders in discussions about changing their use of tobacco products.

Christina M. Delos Reyes, MD, is medical consultant at the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University and its two Ohio Coordinating Center of Excellence (CCOE) initiatives—the Substance Abuse and Mental Illness (SAMI) CCOE and Supported Employment (SE) CCOE. In this capacity, she provides technical assistance to service systems and organizations that are implementing evidence-based practices and other best practices for people with mental illness and co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders.

Dr. Delos Reyes is board certified in both adult psychiatry and addiction psychiatry and is a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Her training has included psychopharmacology both for mental illness and substance use disorders, individual therapy, group therapy, psychoeducation, and working with interdisciplinary teams. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), an international association of trainers in motivational interviewing.

Debra R. Hrouda, PhD, MSSA, LISW-S, is director of quality improvement and TRAC project lead at the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University and its Ohio Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Coordinating Center of Excellence. Her work focuses upon evidence-based practices, emerging best practices, and other strategies that improve quality of life and other outcomes for people with mental illness and substance use disorders.
