HOUSING & RECOVERY

New Resources Promote Housing Stability for People with Mental Illness, Addiction

Nine (9) new resources from the Center for Evidence-Based Practices can help you increase housing stability among people with mental illness, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. Get printed copies and free PDFs of new posters, mini-posters, and reminder cards. Display them in your offices and meeting rooms. Use them daily in your work.

Stable housing gives people a foundation to succeed in recovery. The way you respond to and interact with residents can positively influence their future success. Use the new resources to build self-awareness about your attitudes, thoughts, and communication style as you conduct your work. Learn to keep your attention centered on residents. Learn how to encourage change. These new resources focus on three intervention strategies:

  • Exploring Motivation to Change
  • Creating a Culture of Work
  • Benefits Advocacy (i.e., making informed choices about benefits and work)

Ohio Housing Initiative

The new resources are produced by the Center for Evidence-Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University and funded by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) as part of its statewide initiative to improve housing outcomes among people with mental illness, addiction, and co-occurring disorders.
